Power Quality
This course combines field measurement and facility evaluation techniques to familiarize attendees with the terminology and concepts to evaluate power quality. The effects of harmonics on various power system components and methods of reducing excessive harmonics will also be addressed. The IEEE recommendations, National Electric Code requirements, and ITIC are also emphasized in this course.

Course Objectives:

  • Review of industrial power concepts
  • Review the IEEE Standards and Recommendations
  • Discuss power quality definitions
  • Define Equipment Ratings
  • Describer the effects of disturbances on equipment and processes
  • Examine the sources of harmonics
  • Describe power fact and resonance and its role in power quality
  • Describe the sources of harmonics
  • Discuss power quality analysis and mitigation techniques
  • Summarize the power quality events and their source
